To schedule an APPOINTMENT with Attorney Peters, please call 626-793-9383: - Voicemail?
- Please leave your NAME & PHONE NUMBER
- We will call you back to schedule an appointment for a mutually convenient time.
- The initial appointment is usually at the office:
- So we do not have to charge for travel time (which is time taken away from providing legal services);
- However, in some situations, coming to the office may not be workable;
- So we are willing to schedule a HOME CALL for a mutually convenient time, but at the home call, the Attorney will not have available her usual research resources available, the same as would be available at the office;
- The BEST THING TO DO is NOT WAIT until you are disabled!
- If you send an e-mail to CPeters@elderlegalhelp.com:
- She may receive it, but not have time immediately available to read it:
- An amazing amount of e-mail comes in!
- We are challenged to read it all.
- Same as you.
- If she does receive it ~ AND have time to read it ~ she may send you an e-mail reply with some possible appointment dates and times, and ask you to telephone the office to confirm one as YOUR date and time.
- The purpose of this Web Site is to provide information and resources to the public. Because of the nature of the practice of law and the ethical rules (including Conflict Of Interest rules) which govern Attorney-Client relationships, she cannot give legal advice by e-mail to persons who are not already established as Clients.
- Additionally, she usually cannot provide legal advice to persons who reside outside the State of California. However, if you send her an e-mail regarding the nature of your question, providing your name, mailing address (including state of residence, if different), phone number, e-mail, and names of ALL parties involved (for Conflict Of Interest checking purposes), her staff will be able to respond as to whether (or not) she can assist you with that matter by:
- EITHER referring you to similar legal resources in your area
- OR referring you to elder care services in your area.
- We send an APPOINTMENT LETTER so you know what to bring:
- Have handy the information/documents that the Attorney needs to see to give an opinion about them:
- Then you will not be speculating about the facts;
- She will be able to see what the documents say and hear what the facts may be;
- She wants to provide you concrete answer(s) as much as possible;
- She welcomes a LIST OF QUESTIONS ~ with room after each question
- for her to write a short answer
- so she does not have to charge for a confirming letter.
-
When the initial appointment is less than 1 week away, there may not be time for you to receive or act on the appointment letter. While we are willing to do whatever we can, please understand that having the factual information is often more helpful, because she is able to provide specific answers. -
If you are already a Client and seek legal advice, please understand that you will be billed for e-mail and phone calls as that is time spent on your matter and taken away from other matters, for other Clients. Responses to e-mail seeking legal advice for a Client DO involve Attorney and/or Legal Assistant/Staff time, and thus WILL be billed at our usual hourly rates for that staff person. However, the total amount of the bill will usually be less than regular correspondence and mailing because of the time-savings of e-mail and immediate responses. Any research time to answer a specific question will be included amd explained how that research/analysis is relevant to your matter. You may agree or disagree with the conclusion. Ms. Peters' INTAKE RATE is: - $100 for the first 1/2 HOUR
- $125 for the second 1/2 HOUR (i.e. $225 for the 1st hour)
- $150 per 1/2 HOUR thereafter (i.e. $375 for the 1st 1.5 hours)
- Please feel free to bring a LIST OF QUESTIONS with you, with room after each question for a short WRITTEN answer, so we will not have to charge you later for a written Opinion Letter.
- Only Ms. Peters is authorized to waive the intake fee.
